ABOUT STUTTERI HESTHØJ

Jesper Holst Hansen and Iben Strøm are the people behind Stutteri Hesthøj. The stud farm is beautifully located just outside Kongerslev on the edge of Lille Vildmose, with a view of the Mulbjergene. In addition to the horses, our dog Athene (a lovely whippet) also lives at the stud.

We are very passionate about dressage riding and breeding Danish Warmblood dressage horses. We focus on breeding dressage horses with the talent and health to compete at major dressage events, such as the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, or even the World Championships or the Olympics.

Our mares are saddle-graded, and we are very selective about the stallions we use, considering their qualities and what we wish to improve in our mares. We aim to use young stallions for faster breeding progress. At the same time, the stallions we use must have demonstrated high rideability and preferably competed in the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses.

We enjoy the daily work at the stud farm, cherish working with the horses, and strive to ensure they receive optimal care and attention.

Why is the stud farm called HESTHØJ?

We named our stud farm Stutteri Hesthøj because we are fortunate to have a beautiful burial mound on the property called HESTHØJ (HORSE MOUND)!

It was a natural choice when we needed a name for our stud farm – what could be more fitting than naming it after the beautiful mound where the horses grow up and graze?! From Hesthøj, we can see Lille Vildmose, the Mulbjergene, and Kattegat. It's no wonder our horses love to stand and look out over the landscape.

Our horses grow up in a hilly terrain with large pastures, where they can enjoy fun, balance-demanding, and long gallops and play sessions. We often see our young horses racing up and down the hills just for fun, much to our entertainment.

Jesper Holst Hansen

On a daily basis I work in the development of electrical panels, but most horse people know me best as a dressage judge, where I have judged for over 30 years. For a number of years, I was involved in selecting Danish horses for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. Whenever possible, I ride dressage at the national level.

Iben Strøm

I am a veterinarian, and besides managing the stud farm, I handle the daily operations of our webshop Equistroem.dk, which sells supplements and care products for horses as well as care items for riding equipment. I have worked in veterinary practices and in large organizations in management roles. Additionally, I have been a judge for Dansk Varmblod for over 25 years and have had the privilege of judging the France Dressage Championship for several years. I have ridden dressage at the district level for many years and find it very enjoyable and fun, making me a true "dressage enthusiast."
